Rainbow Dash's protector

Chapter one

"One two three four five clear!" as the Doctor tried to get Rainbow Dash heart working again. She had been the tragic victim of Pinkie Pie horrific crime she was nearly dead but not quite when her friends came running after hearing about her disappearance.

"I cannot watch this anymore". Sobbed Fluttershy looking away. Nopony knew why Pinkie Pie had done it some people say she was possessed others say that she was mentally disturbed either way it had left many ponies saddened.

Pinkie had took many lives away a pony called violet was the first a young filly that used to attend Applebloom school, the second victim was a Pegasus called Sunny shores and many after that.

"Ok one last try," said the doctor as he moped his forehead with a wipe " One two three four five clear."  as he zapped a bolt of energy to try to kick start her heart. Success her heart had started to beat on it's own "Well she sure is a fighter." Said the doctor as he closed her up.

Rainbow dash was alive still very weak but alive. She was taken to a private ward to recover her next operation would be having her wings sown on. Never had the hospital saw such a bad case most of the staff thought she would die from the injuries she had.

But she had proved them wrong her story would be out soon and the hospital would become famous. It was after her second operation that she began to speak she kept repeating the phrase "She's out there she will try to harvest me."

Pinkie had fled that night and it terrified her to know that she was still out there. Many lives were lost a pony called violet was the first a young filly that used to attend Applebloom school, the second victim was an unicorn called Crystal and many after that.

"She's out there she will try to harvest me," Dash quivered.

"This hospital got the best security around," the nurse tried to comfort Dash "Your perfectly safe".

But Dash was not so sure she wished that she could believe the nurse. But every time she tried to relax she saw Pinkie Pie holding her hacksaw.

'It's all in your head' Dash thought 'Pinkie not here so why am I haunted by the memories'. She turned to the nurse who nodded and gave Rainbow Dash a small dose of sleeping gas this was the only way she could get to sleep.

The next day was not any easier she had her operation to reattach her wings and her cutie mark, but what she had been through an operation felt like nothing at all. It was quiet until she saw another Pegasus being brought into the ward.

"Can you speak?" asked the doctor to the new patient

Yes" replied the injured mare.

It was not till she looked up that Rainbow Dash recognized her. Her name was Fireglow she was Spitfire's younger sister. Once she was a happy and full of life until that fateful day when she flew deep into the everfree forest. And when she came back out she was sad and depressed it only happened when the cupcake killer was around or Lady Darcy was about.

She was seen by many doctors and therapists to see if they could help her but nothing worked. Eventually they took her to Princess Celestia who found out she had an evil spell cast on her.

But why was she here?

"Tell me what happened Fireglow." Said the doctor

"When Celestia told me I was cursed I could not take it," Fireglow was sobbing, "It was not till later I met Pinkie she told me she understood."

She coughed and then carried on with her story "I was unaware of the disappearances I swear!," she was crying "She tried to turn me into a cupcake!" .

"I see the same happened to you as well," the doctor look at his record "Ah miss Rainbow Dash it is time for your operation".

Fireglow looked at the other patient "Dash is that you?".

"Hi Fireglow," replied Rainbow Dash "I'm sorry for daring you to go in that forest".

Her friend shook her head "Do not be it was not your fault". Rainbow Dash had been teasing her before on being a softie and dared her to fly deep into the Everfree forest. She felt responsible for what had happened

But Fireglow had forgiven her. After the operation the two became good friends, maybe this will lightens her sprit sometimes the simplest things are the keys to repeal a curse.

"So Dash are you thinking about joining the wonderbolts?." asked Fireglow

"Yeah," said Rainbow Dash "Though it seems doubtful that I will get to join now". She sadly looked at her scars and the stitch's.

"But when you will get better you will join?". Fireglow asked

Rainbow Dash left this question unanswered, all her life she wanted to be part of that team. And now it seemed unlikely that would ever happen she felt like she had been cursed. Why was Fireglow keen on her joining she was not a wonderbolt curios Dash attempted to question her on the matter.

"It just that Soarin seems to taken a shine to you," replied Fireglow "He felt bad after the Gala for ignoring you".

Rainbow Dash heart took a leap at the moment Soarin was her favorite .She had often daydreamed of being with him, interested with this idea she questioned Fireglow further.

"I can tell he got the hots for you Dash," Fireglow chuckled "I've heard him muttering your name,". Fireglow told Rainbow Dash the days she had watched them practice there routine for the next show.

She also told her friend that Soarin had asked Spitfire to make her member. "Oh my gosh oh my gosh oh my gosh" Dash cried it was like a dream had come true. "Do you know what your sisters decision is? ".

Fireglow shook her head "you can ask her yourself she is coming tomorrow to visit".

Dash could not wait for tomorrow maybe she would get to see Soarin too, she would tell him her feelings for him. Thinking of the wonderbolts Dash returned the question to Fireglow if she ever considered joining.

"Well I have thought about it," said Fireglow "but".

"But what?" asked Dash

Blushing slightly Fireglow answered the question "You see there is a stallion I fell in love with,".

"Who is it?". Inquired Dash grinning a bit

"His name Tornado Bolt", answered Fireglow "I met him in Manehatten when I went to visit my cousin Silver Arrow"

Eventually the night rolled in and soon Dash would meet Spitfire and hopefully Soarin.

Morning came and the wonderbolts were training early yet again. "Ugh Spitfire not that I mind but why do we have to train so early?" yawned Fleetfoot .

" Look this is tough on you all I know," Spitfire sighed " But it is crucial we stay on top form, these are dangerous times and we need to be there for all ponies that need our help".

"So were like the police force?" asked Stormy.

Spitfire nodded before she got back to training she was nudged by Soarin. This had better be important Spitfire thought as she asked him.

"Well I err hear you're visiting your sister and I heard that you're visiting Dashie,". He was blushing as some of the other wonderbolts were laughing at him but he chose to ignore them. "I was wondering if I could come".

Spitfire was expecting this Soarin had not been concentrating much on training ever since he heard that Rainbow Dash had been injured. She sighed she knew it Soarin was in love with her.

"Ok every pony that is enough for today," Spitfire called to the others she told Soarin to stay behind. The stallion cringed a bit expecting an earful from Spitfire he knew he had not been focused on his training.

"Sorry Spitfire guess I thought about Dashie agai,n" Soarin knew there was no point in hiding it "I cannot help it I love her Spitfire".

"I know," Spitfire sighed, "You have not been hiding it very well you are going to have to tell her".

"I will but does this mean I am of the team?" asked Soarin. He was so surprised when Spitfire shook her head.

"I knew you would say that you love Dash at some point," she look towards the hospital and then back to the stallion. "You may have guessed it but I am considering on adding Dash to the team but she cannot not in her state." she paused before continuing " What I want you to do is protect her from the Cupcake killer and help her regain her strength.

Soarin heart was doing back flips at that moment he wanted to see Rainbow Dash more than ever. "Well come on Spitfire let's go!".

Spitfire had never seen him fly so fast even when there was pie at the finish line. She laughed as she followed him toward the hospital. They quickly got to the medical Centre in no time. But as always in hospitals you have to book a time to visit luckily Spitfire had taken care of that.

A soon as they got to the ward they saw a group of ponies as well as two dragons come out. These were Dash's friends Twilight, Rarity, Fluttershy, Applejack and the two dragons were Spike and his older sister Amara. (Sorry I had to mention them).
They were all wearing sad expressions on their faces. Fluttershy was even crying as she walked out with the others.

'I hope Dashie has not gotten any worse,' thought Soarin as both Wonderbolts entered the hospital wing. There was Rainbow Dash she was sitting up now looking out of the window.

"Rainbow Dash," said Spitfire making her jump as she turned around. A small pink colour came to her cheeks when she saw Soarin.

"Yeah," said Dash trying to act cool but having little success.

"You may have heard that I am thinking of adding you to the team," started Spitfire "But you're in no position to train with us now that is why I sent Soarin to be your coach to help you regain your strength".

Dash could not believe what she heard all her life she had wanted to be with Soarin a small tear came to her eye.

"Oh and by the way where is my sister?" asked Spitfire.

Rainbow Dash pointed outside the window. There was Fireglow hugging a dark blue stallion "So that must be Tornado Bolt," said Spitfire "I've heard about him in Fireglow letters". Turning to Dash "If you do not mind I am going to see my sister I shall leave you two to catch up,".

Before she left she gave a small tap to Soarin reminding him not to forget what he really came here for.

"So you are my coach huh?". smirked Dash

"That's correct Dashie ,I mean Dash, no sorry Rainbow Dash," Soarin answered feeling like an idiot. But instead Dash smiling she could tell that Soarin was interested in her, now was a good time to tell him her feelings.

"Actually I am glad you came Soarin," she took a deep breath " You were always my favorite Wonderbolt".

"Really?" Soarin heart was pounding away did Dash feel the same way as he did, would he here those words he had longed to hear?.

Dash heart was also thumbing away but she confessed "I love ya Soarin". She stopped there she was surprised on what she had just said. There was a moment of stillness among the two, neither of them said anything for a while.

Rainbow Dash was about to apologize but Soarin put a hoof on her moth to silence her. "Tell me that is true Dash." he was smiling as he gently stroked her rainbow colored mane.

"Of course it's true!" Dash cried throwing herself into Soarin arms "I feel safe when you are here" . She smiled as she nuzzled her newly found lover.

For the first time ever Dash was feeling a brand new emotion something she had never felt before. It was love, oh how wonderful that feeling was Dash felt like she was flying yet she still was in the chair.

Soarin and Rainbow Dash spent most of the day gazing into each other's eyes giving one another a quick kiss now and again.

"Hey Soarin could I ask you a favor?" asked Rainbow Dash.

"Sure anything Dash".

Dash coughed " Keep me away from Pinkie I do not want to be made into a cupcake. And call me Dashie"

Soarin wrapped his forlegs around Dash "I promise Dashie", as he kissed her, stopping the mare from saying anything. Never had Rainbow Dash felt like this it felt well that there was some pony who cared about her.

She had teased Rarity and Spike about being in love and now she was caught in it's web. Would her teasing be returned back to her , no Rarity was not that kind of pony and Spike well he did not really care about what Dash had said.

All that was in the past now, from now on she would no longer tease any pony again. The days past quite pleasantly for Dash as Soarin came to visit and help her regain her strength .

The day had finally arrived the day she would have her bandages off. She would be able to fly again.

"Keep still Rainbow Dash!" as Nurse Red Heart tried to get the bandages off the excited mare as soon as they were off.Dash rushed outside with Nurse Red Heart running after her she saw Dash takes off but she landed quickly.

"Owwww!" cried Dash rubbing her wing.

"Now if you listened to me instead off flying of I would have told you to take it slow. I do understand that you do not like things slow, but if you want your wing to heal then it best not to rush" panted Nurse Red Heart.

"When will my wing heal?" asked Dash

"About three weeks but you can fly just not as much or as fast as the moment," explained the nurse "Besides I do not think your wonderbolt friend would like it if you got hurt".

She watched Rainbow Dash slowly go back into the ward "Now there no reason to be depressed beside your friends are coming to see you as well as Soarin".
